Everything a diver should know

A tour of the six trenches, how suits, harpoons and rentals work alongside the daily Diver share, where the project goes next, and the questions we get asked most.

The six trenches

Trench 1 / 0 to 40 m

The Shallows

Sunlit reef, soft sand and easy pickings. The place every diver learns the kick, and the only trench where the boss is more grumpy than deadly.

Leviathan: Reefback, the hermit in the shipwreck bell. Resources: Sea Glass, White Pearl, Coral Chip, Brine Salt, Driftwood.

Trench 2 / 40 to 200 m

Kelp Dark

The light goes green, then grey. Kelp towers hide the way down and the way back up, and something long keeps pace with you in the fronds.

Leviathan: Kelpwyrm, the eel that owns the forest. Resources: Kelp Fiber, Amber Nacre, Moon Jelly Oil.

Trench 3 / 200 to 1,000 m

Midnight Shelf

A rock shelf at the edge of the dark. Your lamp is the only sun here, and every other light in the water belongs to something with teeth.

Leviathan: Lantern Maw, the light you should not follow. Resources: Lantern Oil, Black Pearl, Shelf Iron.

Trench 4 / 1,000 to 4,000 m

The Abyss

Flat, black and endless. Motes of cold light drift past the ruins of whoever built here first, and their statue is still awake.

Leviathan: Drowned Colossus, the statue that remembers. Resources: Abyssal Ink, Ghost Nacre, Cold Gold.

Trench 5 / 4,000 to 9,000 m

Hadal Rift

A crack in the seafloor that goes down further than the maps do. Pressure glass grows on the walls, and the walls move.

Leviathan: Riftkraken, the arms in the dark. Resources: Kraken Tooth, Rift Quartz, Pressure Glass.

Trench 6 / below the rift

The Vent

Black smokers, boiling water and gold that nobody has surfaced yet. The leviathan sleeps on it. Wake it carefully.

Leviathan: Vent Leviathan, the one the gold belongs to. Resources: Vent Gold, Obsidian Shard, Sulfur Bloom, Heart of the Vent.

All 21 resources

Rarity is per trench, not global: a common in the Vent is still a hard thing to bring up.

Suits, harpoons and rentals

Suit tier sets your depth limit and your air. Tier 1 is the Shallows; each tier down needs resources from the trench above it, so nobody skips a trench.

Harpoon tier sets what you can break. Leviathan armour, pressure glass and vent rock each want a specific tip, and tips wear out, which is what keeps the trade post busy.

Rentals. A Diver you are not using can be listed for rent. The renter dives with it, you take a cut of everything they surface, and the Diver never leaves your wallet. Rentals open with Trench 2.

The daily Diver share

Game fees from crafting, trading and rentals go into one pool. Once a day that pool is split evenly across every Diver in circulation and paid on BNB Smart Chain. No staking, no lock, no claim window: hold a Diver, get the share. Exact percentages are published with the mint details.

FAQ

What is Pearlhold?+

A skill-based pixel-art diving game. You dive six trenches, fight six leviathans, craft gear from what you surface and trade it with other divers. Your Diver is yours: an NFT on BNB Smart Chain, not a row in our database.

What chain, what standard?+

BNB Smart Chain. The Divers are BEP-721 tokens, the BNB Chain equivalent of ERC-721. Gear, resources and the in-game economy settle there too.

How many Divers, and what do they cost?+

3,333 Divers. Mint price and per-wallet limit are not announced yet. The waitlist decides who dives first, and the top of the XP leaderboard gets the best of it.

What does a Diver do in the game?+

It is your character. Suit and harpoon tiers decide how deep you can go and what you can break. Divers you are not using can be rented to other players for a cut. Every day a share of game fees is split across all Divers: the daily Diver share.

Is the game skill-based or idle?+

Skill-based. Timing your swings, managing air and reading a boss matters more than how long you leave a tab open. Rentals exist so a Diver is never wasted, not so the game plays itself.

Do I need to connect a wallet to join the waitlist?+

No. We only ask for a public wallet address, typed in. We never ask for a seed phrase, a private key or a signature, and nothing on this site sends a transaction or moves funds.

How does the leaderboard work?+

Every task you confirm adds XP. The board ranks the top 100 by task XP and updates every minute. New posts on X bring new tasks, so it keeps moving until the list closes.
